White Tower

It is one of the tower made to protect Novgorod. There were walls between towers in ancient times, but there is no walls now. Just a alone tower. For student it was 150rubs. it has four floors. You can buy tickets in 1st floor. If you go 2nd and 3rd floor, there will be historical ruins and monuments(?). On the 4th floor, we can see outside through windows. But it was not that pretty. Because it was built to protect the country, it did not have that goos sightview.

The White Tower is part of the fortifications of Veliky Novgorod, built during the Livonian War, which was waged by Ivan the Terrible. Now the tower houses a small but interesting exhibition dedicated to weapons and wars of the 16th century. The top floor of the tower offers a view of the ancient rampart and the surrounding area. It is definitely worth coming in here. Interesting.

A beautiful and interesting place, I liked it, probably more than all the museums we visited in Novgorod. Almost everything in the Kremlin is closed, including access to the walls.

There is a museum in the tower. There are not many exhibits, but the curators explain and tell. On the upper tier, in the loopholes, there are clear glass windows, a panoramic view of the area opens up.

An interesting small museum and an example of a well-done restoration. It is a little away from the main attractions of Veliky Novgorod (15 minutes walk from Detinets), but the visit is worth the time spent.
