The museum was founded in 1978. It is located next to the Glory Memorial, where the remains of Malgobek’s defenders are buried. The museum contains exhibits from World War II, information about the defenders of the homeland, various artifacts of the war, letters, photographs of war veterans, the first oilmen. The museum has three rooms. The first and largest is devoted to the defense of the Caucasus, including the Malgobek defensive operation. The second hall is dedicated to the oil workers of Malgobek. In the third hall there are ethnographic items and a corner dedicated to the Afghan warriors.
