Approaching Ulitsa Varvarka from behind Saint Basil's Cathedral, this is the first church you'll see along what I personally call the Church Row.

The Church of St. Barbara is one of a handful of minor attractions along Ulitsa Varvarka just southeast of the Red Square. The church is dedicated to St. Barbara the Martyr. This is a small Neo-classical building which was constructed around the end of the 18th century upon the grounds of an earlier church. St. Barbara is pink in colour and attractive to view from the outside. Inside, there is a small gift shop and upstairs worship room that is simpler than most might have seen in Moscow. If you are sightseeing along Ulitsa Varvarka it is worth making a quick visit here if you enjoy visiting historic churches. Have a quick look and then proceed onward with visits to other places like the Old English Court and Museum, the Palace of the Romanov Boyars and Church of St. George amongst others a bit further along Ulitsa Varvarka. Note: Like most churches you may visit in Moscow, photography isn't permitted inside.
