Small and modest, but very cozy church. You somehow feel good here, it's easy

A small but homely temple in the city center. Due to the small number of residential buildings and the high density of temples in Kitay Gorod, there are no crowds at services, as in temples located in residential areas of the city. An interesting fact: inside the small aisle of the temple, the so-called "voices", special openings, have been preserved. The resulting echo effect creates a temple surround acoustics, which creates a special sensation.

The church was built in 1564. It was a two-tier quadruple crowned with five chapters. In 1640, the Assumption aisle completed with two tents with chapters was added to the church of Cosmas and Damian from the north. In 1803, the building was rebuilt in the style of classicism, receiving a new refectory and a bell tower. In 1926-1927 The northern aisle was restored by the architect D.P. Sukhov. The ancient form of the portals and platbands was restored as well as the two-hipped completion. However, in 1931 the tents were removed, stucco molding and decoration were shot down, a portal was laid, and a new building was built on the site of the western part of the church. In 1995, the church was returned to the Russian Orthodox Church. 2000-2001, the northern part of the church, overlooking Staropansky Lane, was restored according to the design of Sukhov.

Soul Temple. There is a Sunday school there for both children and adults. Feels like a temple in the outback. Comfortable not crowded. Paradise for parents with children.
