The construction of the temple was carried out from 1519 to 1521. In 1676, he, along with church land, was transferred to the Novgorod Bishop's house and built on the upper church, where the throne was transferred in honor of the prophet Elijah. The ancient lower church was consecrated in the name of the Apostle Timothy. In the 1820s, a bell tower was added on the north side. In 1864, after changing the facade and significant reconstruction (the lower church was abolished, the gallery was demolished, a flight of stairs was arranged in the southern apse of the upper church) the church became part of the Warm Shopping arcade. The temple was closed in 1923, then the upper tier of the bell tower was dismantled. Since 1995, services have resumed in the Temple, and a slow restoration is underway.
