The Church of the Intercession of the Blessed Virgin Mary in Rubtsovo was built by Tsar Mikhail Fedorovich Romanov on a vow and in gratitude for saving Moscow from Polish-Lithuanian invaders on the feast day of the Intercession of the Blessed Virgin on October 1, 1618. The original wooden church was replaced in eight years by a stone church, consecrated on October 29, 1626. The temple was a palace, from 1761 became a parish.
