The ancient Romans demanded "bread and circuses." The slogan "Give bread" was popular in the USSR. Bread appears in many titles of works of literature ... It is healthy and logical that there is such a museum dedicated to our daily bread. This bread museum is an important link in the museum cluster of the Kremlin in Izmailovo cultural and entertainment complex. The exposition of the Museum totals about 1000 exhibits, on a bread subject, from various eras. The traditional classic exposition with interactive elements helps to make a memorable excursion-journey into the "bread world". After all, bread is one of the oldest prepared foods, which appeared in the Neolithic era. In the fields, close to the rivers and forests that provided for the existence of people, cereals were grown. Of which they made bread. The first bread was a kind of baked gruel made from cereals and water. As a result of experiments with water and flour, bread began its proud procession across countries and continents. He was and is one of the most common food products. Many countries have their own national recipes for its preparation. Loaf, pita, matzoh, bagel, biscuit, tortilla, focauca, pita bread, chapati, saika, croissant, french baguette, Chinese baobin, tortilla, North American corn tortilla ... What a wonderful collection, isn't it? Being the basis of nutrition of many peoples, bread was considered as a source of life and a symbol of labor. In many modern cultural countries, under the bread known food products, exclusively from wheat and rye. For many generations, white bread was considered preferable for the rich, while the poor ate gray and black bread. But then, gradually rye bread was replaced by wheat, as the most easily absorbed by our body. In Russia, they mainly consumed rye bread. As in Scandinavia and partly in Germany ... And also bread served not only as the basis of food, but was also part of the table setting. Pieces of stale bread (in the form of a special form) served as plates. After eating, these pieces of bread, which served as plates, were eaten, given to the poor, or fed them dogs. By the way, it was only in the 15th century that such dishes for food began to be made of wood and ceased to use "bread plates". And according to the Slavic tradition of hospitality, round bread with a salt shaker in the middle (the so-called "bread and salt") is presented on an embroidered towel-towel, to dear and respected guests. And how many proverbs and sayings related to bread in Russian? Even in the prayer "Our Father" - there are words: "Give us our daily bread today." Well, perhaps such an important element of our life and culture could not have been devoted to museum excursions ...? Of course not. It’s great that such a museum exists. And even with it, a workshop is functioning, where, together with the master, you can feel like a baker and a cook ... Not all, of course, the secrets of making loaves, pancakes, pies, bagels can be spied. But the process of creativity itself, and then the tasting of self-made products is already interesting and unusual. Where else can you see firsthand, all the way from the seed to the loaf. It is interesting and informative here, but how many around the Kremlin there are still such “interests”. So, a hike here for the whole day means having fun and usefully spending your free time.
