Wonderful temple. Unusual, having a priest to himself - father Sergius Makhonin. Initially, the Nikolsky Monastery was located on the site of the temple. For the first time, the temple is mentioned in the Spiritual Letter of Ivan Kalita, before his trip to the Horde in 1339. In 1709, in honor of the victory in the battle of Poltava, on the site of the wooden Nikolsky church, a stone church of the Descent of the Holy Spirit was built on the apostles. Its architecture is close to Western European Baroque. In 1799-1800, the design of the lower church in honor of St. Nicholas was completed. In the years 1858-1864, designed by the architect P.P. Zykov at the expense of Count I.P. Musin-Pushkin completed the construction of a new stone bell tower in honor of the holy martyr Julian of Nicomedia. During the Napoleonic invasion, Murat’s cavalry was in the temple, so in December 1813 the temple was re-consecrated. Services in the temple ceased to be performed since 1926. In 1930, the rector of the church, priest Alexander Vozdvizhensky, was sentenced to 5 years in camps. In 1932 the church was closed. The temple building was operated as a boiler room, a dining room, a vegetable store, a water tower, a club, a library, and a dance floor. The church was returned to the Russian Orthodox Church in 1991. In 1992, Priest Sergius Makhonin was appointed rector. The first Liturgy after the return was celebrated in 1993. By 1997, a copper roof was installed, a cross was erected. In the 2000s, three iconostases were recreated. The painting of the temple was completed in 2010.

New Moscow got many quiet pearls, it gives the impression of a temple that never closed and its patrons stay for a long time with a guest who decided to come in, always open during the day

Graceful place for namolennoe. Silence, peace, peace. Many old icons - the image of the Savior, Nicholas the Wonderworker, etc. All for communicating with God ..

The place is really very beautiful. Quietly calm. People are almost always not very clean. It’s obvious that people work there with love. About grace I can not say anything, It depends on the person
