It used to be a very nice place when Father Nikolay was there !!!!!
The Brick Church was the cathedral of the Vozmishchensky monastery, known since the 15th century. The church was originally a three-domed church, but two eastern drums were dismantled in 1792. The walls of the altar and pillars of the temple preserved frescoes of the 17th century. The iconostasis of the "Russian-Byzantine" style dates back to the 18-19 centuries. The three-tier bell tower and the double-refectory refectory were built in 1850 in the pseudo-Russian style with elements of Moscow baroque. In the western wall of the refectory there is a white stone plate with the text about the construction of the monastery church in 1541 and the refectory, which belongs to the outstanding examples of Russian epigraphy of the 16th century.
A beautiful place just don't look after the pond. All overgrown.
Near the city pond, there used to be a boat station and bathed, now the nearby houses dump the sewage there.
Very beautiful place, around the temple there are flowers, apple and cherry trees are blooming, well, just a heavenly place. At this place, there used to be the Nativity Monastery, and therefore in the wall of the temple there was another mortgage boards. Ivan Sanin, the future saint Reverend Joseph of Volotsky, lived in this monastery for several years. And next to the temple there is a cross in memory of the executed priests in 1937. Nowadays they are glorified. In the temple there are many ancient icons, and especially to the left of the entrance, the image of Patriarch Hermogen in a unique carved icon case with the image of the saint in custody. A wonderful person worked on this day in the church shop, allowed me to photograph everything and all with great love!
