This tower acquired its modern look after a fire in 1970, when its upper wooden part burned down. There was also a small watchtower that eventually became dilapidated, began to fall apart and was dismantled. In Tsarist Russia of the 19th century, the function of firefighters was performed by policemen, but fire brigades began to appear in Bogorodsk already in 1861. They arrived immediately to the fire, after hearing the sounds of a bell located in the upper, wooden part of the watchtower. But the strength to fight the fire was still not enough. As a result, it was decided to organize the Bogorodsk Fire Society, which was founded in 1896.
