The chapel of St. Alexis, Metropolitan of Moscow is located on the embankment of the Volga River of Samara near the 6th pier, so it is difficult not to notice it for guests of the city who come to Samara along the Volga. The chapel itself is small, next to it are two stone sculptures: St. Alexy, who is considered the heavenly patron saint of Samara, and St. Sergius of Radonezh. The chapel was repeatedly built and rebuilt. In the 30s it was destroyed and in 1993 restored. The author of the project is architect A. Melentiev. In Moscow, the icon of St. Alexis was ordered for her. In June 1998, it was solemnly consecrated. The chapel is closed most of the time, open when the ships leave.
