Tserkov' Nikolaya Chudotvortsa

Village Sorlini emerged in the XVII century. The first temple appeared in the 18th century, and in 1856 a new stone church (with a chapel in the name of St. Nicholas, archbishop of Mirlikia), focused on the Old Russian architecture, was built on the mountain in the forest edge. Despite the fact that the Sorlinsky temple appeared relatively late, its idea combined the achievements of Russian temple architecture for several centuries. Specialists find signs of aesthetic tastes of different directions in the Sorlinsky temple, a combination of the early Old Russian double-light quadrilateral with the octagonal dome borrowed from the baroque and the Moscow tent. The building is registered as a monument of architecture and is protected by the state. The church is well preserved and at the present time the efforts of the parish are restored and re-consecrated in memory of the former chapel as Nikolskaya.
