The museum is quaint and has some nice items *however*, this should be called the museum of grumpy old folk. The staff was made up entirely of aggressive and rude staff who barked orders and couldn’t summon up a smile even when I tried to show them as much friendliness as I could. Put a major tarnish on an otherwise charming venue.

One of the important attractions within grounds of the Peter and Paul Fortress is the State Museum of the History of St. Petersburg. Here you will find two floors and a fair number of rooms with exhibitions dedicated to the history of St. Petersburg during the 18th to 20 centuries. We enjoyed the displays, artefacts and information panels, finding them to provide a nice background into how the city evolved into what it is today. In the end, this museum will be better appreciated by Russian visitors. However, those interested in history will find this a museum worth dedicating an hour or two during your visit to the Peter and Paul Fortress.

Ingesting museum, highly recommended, it shows the history of the city, from its foundation to 1918, the year were the empire fell.
