Museum of Theatre and Music

This museum is really a discovery. The ticket costs only 200 rub and at the beginning of the tour it seems like an ordinary museum. I highly recommend takibg the time to see the Legends of Theatre exhebition because it turns into an interactive museum tour where you can even try out some genuine ballet steps and poses. A great gem of a museum.

Great museum absolutely if you're interested in costumes and want to know how theatres work. I recommend it to everyone.

If you're nearby then it's worth checking the motion sensor stained glass statue that's in the corridor before ticket office. When I went, there were 2 exhibitions. The one on lvl 3 is the main one on the history etc - they have interactive stuff but it's all in Russian. They had posters, costumes, sketches and reconstruction of stages. It was interesting to see. Note: the lady at the ticket office didn't speak English. I think she was trying to be helpful since when I said I want to see the lvl 5 exhibition "magic world of theatre", she indicated lvl 3. Unfortunately, I mainly wanted to see costumes and this was apparently the lvl 5 exhibition when I went up to ask the lady on lvl 5 who could speak a little bit of English.

Not attractive museum but the Leader that was an old woman was very good Leader and explanation was complete and useful.

Wonderful collection, better appreciated if you understand the basics of Russian theatre or if you take a guide. Loved the models and the part of the collection dedicated to modernism.
