Such a delight hidden in plain sight. An amazing collection that can rival many well establish mid-size museums. The genuine atmosphere adds to the value. Worth visiting
Great
The museum is excellent precisely by the collection of Isaac Brodsky, plus the preserved interiors of this not very large apartment (for the artist, one of the founders of Leniniana). But there is a very unpleasant "But". Before visiting the museum, I read reviews about it here on the site, where there are often comments that this museum has unfriendly employees. I didn't think that I would meet with such ministers of the Temple of Art in the cultural capital, but, alas, it happened. The precipitate is very, very unpleasant. The caretaker, who literally allowed himself to scream at me, and then, for all 40 minutes of my presence there, who followed me on the trail (I’m not exaggerating now - he didn’t even always keep the distance set for a pandemic), did not have a badge, to my requests (twice ) introduce himself and give his full name, did not react in any way, so I cannot name him. But I will describe in order to avoid that subsequent visitors do not get such a heavy impression in this place, and, having seen this employee, ... maybe they left until the next time? A man 65-70 years old, gray-haired, about 178cm tall, a little stooped. My terrible fault was only in one thing: I gently, touching with one finger, wanted to open the book lying on the table in the dining room (note: the book is on the table, and not in a closed window, there is no title on the cover. century, and about the beginning of the 20th). I wanted to read what exactly such an ambiguous artist was reading: Repin's beloved student, a man who collected an excellent collection of paintings by his contemporaries and often supported them, including financially, but at the same time painted portraits of Bolshevik leaders and leaders - Lenin, Stalin). Everyone understands: "Tell me what you read and I will tell you who you are." What I. Brodsky read, I was not allowed to see this superintendent, who did not introduce himself to me, who, moreover, having no reason (since he did not introduce himself, and to my request to show the document that he was an employee here, he replied: I will not show it! "Literally.) He stood for five minutes and scolded me like a bad student at the blackboard, until I forbade him:" I came to the Temple of Art, not to the temple of Rudeness! " Subsequently, this almost "gendarmerie" strict control, which I mentioned by me, was established, apparently in order to prevent possible theft on my part, or a pogrom. Believe me, I do not at all look like a marginal in a gateway. All this is deeply offensive, however, this is exactly what, I suppose, this worker sought, alas. When he accidentally got into the frame when I was shooting interiors - and I saw it only later - he would certainly turn away. At the end of the session, I asked for a book of reviews, and this turned out to be under the jurisdiction of this Mr. X, then I received it, but only this comrade took the pen to another room and disappeared there with her. But my bag always has a pen, so I wrote a review (about the same text as now) and photographed my story. It was October 28, 2020.
A small atmospheric museum with an unexpectedly fine collection of Russian paintings in a memorial setting; located in the heart of the city. On the second floor there is a large bright workshop with a stunning interior! The tranquil atmosphere of the large old apartment allows for a leisurely acquaintance with art.
It is interesting and informative, however, we got here by mistake, confusing this I. Brodsky with another I. Brodsky. The mistake was realized too late, but personally I do not regret it.
