Khram Vozdvizheniya Kresta Gospodnya

Driving through the churches of the Leningrad region, we stopped in Opole. A snow-white church stands right on the road. Around is an old cemetery, with ancient tombstones. But the most beautiful thing is that ancient icons and murals have been preserved inside the church. I have not seen such large icons anywhere, beauty and spirit are fascinating.

Unremarkable on the outside and very bright inside. Recently renovated and updated the inner color of the walls of the church. The caretaker, a very sweet woman, told us the story of this church. It was built on the site of the old church, when it finally decayed in 1874. It was closed twice from 1937 to 1942 and in 1944. The church was sacked, so the iconostasis was moved here from the Church of the Nativity of the Blessed Virgin Mary of the village of Penino. Many icons are gifts from the locals.

Beautiful Church of the Exaltation of the Lord in the center of the village Opole. It looks very impressive from the road behind a stone wall, immediately attracts attention. The temple is constantly operating, rich decoration. The territory is neat and tidy, it is also clear that everything is under supervision. Beautiful icons and iconostasis. I recommend to visit and contemplation.
