St. George's Church

The next visit to Novaya Ladoga (one of the most depressed towns of the Leningrad Region, the historical and cultural center of which has been in ruins for many years) started from the cemetery because it is impossible to pass by. Until 1768, the church was used as a regimental, in 1802 it was assigned to the Cathedral of the Nativity of the Most Holy Mother of God, renewed and re-consecrated in the name of the Great Martyr George the Victorious. Renovated in 1820 at the expense of gr. DI. Tail. In 1861, at the expense of the merchant E.I. Ilyinsky was attached a stone side-chapel of the State of the Riza of the Most Holy Mother of God with a hipped bell tower in the Russian style, consecrated in 1863 in memory of the liberation of the peasants from serfdom. After repair in 1876-77. The church was consecrated on June 29, 1878. There was a bust of AV in the temple. Suvorov. Closed July 26, 1924. Since 1951, the building had a warehouse for the regional food factory, then a Christmas tree shop, a Lakond enterprise.
