Aleksiyevskaya Tserkov'

To the west of the Staroladozhsky Assumption Monastery, away from the highway, there is an existing cemetery in the village of Staraya Ladoga. Previously, this cemetery and the church of Alexy the man of God, standing on it, belonged to the Assumption Monastery. At one time, the temple was even the main source of income for the monastery. On the site of the Church of Alexis was originally located a chapel, also consecrated in the name of Alexius the man of God. It was built in 1831 at the expense of parishioners of the Staroladozh Assumption Monastery. In 1833, the chapel was demolished, and in its place on the donations of the St. Petersburg merchant Semyon Kalinin and other parishioners, a stone Alexievsky church was built. The temple was built in the style of late classicism, single-domed, having the shape of a cube. In 1939, the Church of St. Alexis was closed. By the 1980s, abandoned. In 2000, the temple was completely restored. This was made possible thanks to Volkhov Aluminum, OJSC, on the initiative and at the expense of which a restoration was carried out in memory of the plant director B.A. Alekseev.
