The State Hermitage Museum (Russian: Госуда́рственный Эрмита́ж, tr. Gosudárstvennyj Ermitáž, IPA: [ɡəsʊˈdarstvʲɪnɨj ɪrmʲɪˈtaʂ]) is a museum of art and culture in Saint Petersburg, Russia. The second-largest art museum in the world,[2][3] it was founded in 1764 when Empress Catherine the Great acquired an impressive collection of paintings from the Berlin merchant Johann Ernst Gotzkowsky. The museum celebrates the anniversary of its founding each year on 7 December, Saint Catherine's Day.[4] It has been open to the public since 1852.

The place was interesting with a really good collection of porcelain pieces. But, if you're looking for something to buy, the place is a little bit pricey, so get ready to spend some of that cash 😉 Having said that, you could also find few items which are in the 800 - 3000 range. 👍

A must visit even if you're not into porcelain. Large collection of pieces produced by the Imperial Porcelain Factory over the years are on display. The level of detail and the skill needed to produce these art pieces will leave you in admiration. And to finish the visit, the factory shop downstairs is also great for picking up a souvenir, with some items going for less than ₽1000 to others that wouldn't feel out of place even if they were on display in the museum. Also if you bought a ticket for the State Hermitage Museum (aka Winter Palace) admission is included for the same day.
