At the same time, there is no state aviation museum in the city, but there is a museum in St. Petersburg State University of Civil Aviation, accessible to all visitors. It is the only joint museum of educational institution and manufacturing enterprises in St. Petersburg and in the industry. The museum is the result of the unification of the Museum of Civil Aviation Academy and the Museum of History of the Leningrad Civil Aviation Administration in the Academy of Civil Aviation (now St. Petersburg State University of Civil Aviation, St. Petersburg State University of Civil Aviation). The History Museum of the Academy was opened in May 1975 to commemorate the 30th anniversary of the Victory in the Great Patriotic War and in connection with the 20th anniversary of the organization of the Higher Aviation School of Civil Air Fleet - the Academy of Civil Aviation. Among the founders of the Museum are prominent civil aviation figures - I. F. Vasin, Yu. P. Darymov, P. S. Labazin, N. G. Fedorov, M. I. Rubets. The Museum of the Leningrad Civil Aviation Administration was founded in 1984 for the 50th anniversary of the Directorate. The merger of two related museums took place in March 1993 by the decision of G. A. Kryzhanovsky, the rector of the Academy of Civil Aviation, and B. G. Demchenko, general director of the Pulkovo airline. The association of museums was quite natural, since the university and the airline had common roots, their predecessor was the Leningrad Institute of Civil Air Fleet Engineers (LII GVF, 1930–1941). The museum is located in the main building of the University, located in the southern part of St. Petersburg, in the microdistrict, which in the 1930s was named Aviagorod, now the aviation city. The university is adjacent to the historical buildings of the LII GVF, after the war, transferred to the airline. The united museum today is an educational and scientific structural unit of the University, a methodical center for civil aviation museums, a state depository of historical, material and spiritual culture monuments. The exposition of the Museum reflects the history of the University and its predecessors in the context of the history of aviation and aviation education in St. Petersburg; the contribution of the University and its graduates to the development of civil aviation in Russia and international cooperation in the field of civil aviation; history of the Pulkovo aviation enterprise - JSC “Airline“ Russia ”and Pulkovo Airport. The total area of ​​the museum, taking into account the exhibition gallery of about 500 m2. Every year the museum receives at least twenty thousand visitors (at the exhibition, off-site exhibitions, conferences). The Council of the museum, which includes veterans of the Pulkovo aviation enterprise’s staff, professors and teachers of the University, and the museum’s staff, is active. The Chairman of the Presidium of the Museum Council is the Hero of the Soviet Union, a graduate of our university V. M. Yanchenko.
