Be prepared for some queues. On arrival check that people aren't just standing in one long queue needlessly - there are separe queues for all the right-hand gates. On the return there's a bag check queue first, then if you're already checked in on Anastasia then just head left and ignore the massive queue inside. There's a little duty free shop after customs where you can buy incredibly cheap alcohol (cheaper than the boat), they'll check this in as you board and you collect when you disembark.

Great ferry service! Nice boat with good range of facilities. There are LONG PASSPORT QUEUES (I mean like 3 hours - worth taking into consideration on a day-stopover). Helpful staff on ground and boat.

This is a good way to travel on the route from Stockholm to Helsinki to St. Petersburg to Tallinn. It isn't unusual cross between what I think of as a ferry and a cruise ship. The ship holds 2000 people and has several nice restaurants with very good staff and food. You pay for the food separately so it isn't like a cruise line where at least some of the food and drink are included. We had a deluxe room which had the advantage of more space but it overlooks the front of the ship where you really could not the water because there was this big space in front that blocked part of the view. In the room itself was quite ordinary it didn't have much space to put clothes and the sofa was not very comfortable. There were lots of teenagers on board the ship. There were only two elevators which seemed odd for a ship of this size. There were very few seating areas by Windows and they were really only on one side of the ship unless you went to the bar. There were no safety instructions although there was some notice that we saw that said if anything went wrong you were to go to an assembly point that had life jackets locked in some kind of a locker/closet that presumably would be handed out one by one by crewmembers, presuming that everybody stayed very calm and was extremely patient. We never had any idea where lifeboats were. However, the staff were very nice. We were on the ship for two nights and then stayed in St. Petersburg for 72 hours (the deal without a visa) and when we got back on the ship for one night to Tallinn, several staff remembered us and was so warm with her greeting that we felt very very welcome to be back on the ship. If you looking for elegance, this is not the right place. But it is a nice way to get to these cities.

ship is kinda old and all beers they sell in bars onboard is disgusting. Especially do not buy their Kozel - its not from Czech republic, it tastes like they brew it in their engine room. $6 per glass. Duty free prices are simply ridiculous. Buffet dinner for 38 euro - I did not go seeing their offerings at the bars.
