Friends on Fontanka

Nice hotel

Great central place to stay, rooms are super clean and the staff are really lovely. Downside, there is either a Karaoke bar or practice room really close, I could hear people constantly performing (drums, bass, guitar the whole works) every night until 10pm. So it's not really a 'chill' place to stay. Also the key cards were very temperamental, often it wouldn't let me access the main door into the Hotel, I had to buzz for someone to let me in (great if someone's at the front desk, a little annoying when someone wasn't ) I had the card changrd 3 times and all three wouldn't always work. Would maybe stay here again depending on the rates

It's right in the city center, very cozy and silent. Highly recommend.

I was impressed by this hotel. It is clean, fresh and offers a great breakfast and lunch. The staff is also amazing; I had no problem communicating with my limited Russian. The only reason I did not give Friends on Fontanka five stars is because the bands from the bars next door are really loud. I appreciated the ear plugs the hotel provided but some nights this wasn't enough.

+ staff: they were friendly, happy to help with good english. - It's a 2-star hotel, but they charge you for a good 3-star hotel. I haven't been to a hotel where I had to pay for soap-shampoo-slippers in addition of the room price. Room doesn't have a phone to call reception if you need something. There is a bar next door, which is loud (on weekends) until 2 in the morning. Room was basic, good for one person. Location is not central.
