The fountain in the Alekseevsky Garden, which is the surviving part of the Private Garden of the palace of Grand Duke Alexei Alexandrovich. Architect M.E. Mesmakher, who built the palace and its service buildings, planned this garden with a greenhouse and sculptures and the Main Garden in front of the main entrance to the Moika embankment. At first, the palace’s own garden was fenced off with a high stone wall. The fountain was installed opposite the windows of the office of the Grand Duke.
