A beautiful pond with a wonderful fountain

The pool of the pond occupies the main part of the Mazenerei Garden. The authors of the project are Leblon and Braunstein. Built in 1716 - 1717 according to the plan conceived by Peter I. Size 70 x 30 meters. Its walls are faced with brick and bordered around the perimeter by stone slabs. In the middle of the pool, a bronze column 3.5 meters high rotates slowly, completed with three gilded disks. From the edges of the disks jets beat, scattering in all directions, like rays. The pattern of the jets of the upper part of the fountain defined its name as the Sun. Under the rays of this watery sun 16 dolphins bask, throwing water out of their open mouths. The Mazenerei Pond contained swans and rare waterfowl.
