Kurgan Karagodeuashkh. The burial took place in the last quarter of the 4th century BC. The mound is located at the beginning of Kurgannaya Street, literally two kilometers north of the railway station. In Soviet times, the direction to it was indicated by signs. The height of the mound reached 12 m. It had a flattened top and sloping sides. It is considered the richest mound of all the monuments presented, belonging to the Sindo-Meotian population of the Northern Black Sea region. In 1888 the mound was investigated by E. D. Felitsyn, who discovered a stone tomb in it, covered with wood. Its dimensions were 20.5 meters long, and it consisted of four cells, with a door on the west side. The first room housed a chariot and the burial of a noble woman who lived in the 4th century BC. e. In the fourth room, the leader was buried, lying in a sarcophagus. Both buried people were accompanied by artistic weapons, utensils and jewelry made of gold, silver and bronze (a gold plate from a conical headdress with cult scenes, silver rhytons with scenes from the life of barbarians, numerous gold plaques with various images). Later, the burial mound was followed by Soviet archaeologists who discovered additional burials of bridled horses. Based on the artifacts found, one can easily reproduce the picture of the burial of the Meotian leader. The leader was dressed in rich vestments and had weapons. The body was brought to the burial place in a special chariot. In advance, a stone tomb was built in this place, which had two burial chambers, one for the leader himself, and the other for his wife. The leader was buried in the highest cell, and his wife was buried in the cell below. The chief's wife was also dressed in a rich ritual attire, which was made of silver and gold. A chariot with four horses in a harness was also buried, and a riding horse was in a separate dramos.
