It’s no secret that when you were in the center of European Russia, it’s an untouched southern taiga with many trees that are now listed in the Red Book. Deforestation at an intensive pace occurred both before the revolution and after it. But on the territory of the Kostroma region, an array of 70,000 hectares remained - a dark coniferous forest - the landscape of which was not touched by human hands. In order to preserve and increase the wealth of the taiga in this territory, the Kologrivsky Forest State Reserve arose in 2006. The uniqueness of the territory The reserve attracts attention with its impenetrable forests, swamps and marshes, the annual flood of the Kostroma and Unzhi rivers - tributaries of the Volga. But scientists working on the creation of this protected area since 1957 know every blade of grass, tree, and numerous species of animals that are on the verge of extinction. Only here, in the “Kologrivsky Forest”, you can see Traunshteiner's fingerling, striking with its elegance and solidity of a thick stem and cornflower flowers on a high peduncle, a real Venus slipper - the most charming of natural northern orchids, whole forests of Siberian larch, which is not typical for the local territory . Here lives the famous "Kostroma five" predators - wild boar, elk, bear, wolf and lynx, many other species of animals and birds. Unity with nature The development of eco-tourism in recent years has led to the fact that tourists were allowed to enter the territory of the reserve - in small groups, necessarily accompanied by a reserve worker. Here you can see outlandish animals listed in the Red Book, enjoy the aromas of fir and fir, learn a lot of useful and valuable about our mother nature.

The forest itself is beautiful, dense. But such a de can be found in other places. After viewing the site about this tour, we expected to see animals, about which much has been written on the site. There is no such! In fact, you walk along the path in the forest and they tell you about the flora and fauna with photos on the stands, no more. It will be interesting only to biologists. For me it was the longest and most expensive biology lesson of grades 7-9. Well, it is interesting to ride a dirt track. This is the opinion of our group of 5 people.
