The Church of the Cathedral of the Virgin is the oldest church (1552) on display at the Kostroma Sloboda Museum-Reserve and generally in the Kostroma Region. According to legend, the carpenters Karp and Papila were cut down the temple, supposedly buried under the altar of the church. Area 316.6 square meters m It is located a bit off from the main territory of the museum-reserve (not far from the entrance to the Ipatiev Monastery).

A very beautiful temple came from the village of Kholm which is in Galic district and now decorates Kostroma. It is part of the Kostroma settlement.
