The church was built in 1894 partly at the expense of the Cemetery Church and the city council and partly at private donations. In the 30s of the 20th century, the church was municipalized. A prison was located in the building. The dome and the bell tower were destroyed. Among the well-known prisoners was the Archbishop of Chernigov Pakhomiy (Kedrov), who after his death was buried in the local cemetery. In the 90s, the prison ceased to function and the building was transferred to the operational management of the KOGKUZ Medical Center for Mobilization Reserves "Reserve", which used the church building as a warehouse for medicines. However, in recent years the church has been empty.

It is not so easy to find a church, since there are no domes and bell towers at the moment, and it cannot be found from afar. The church is in the process of restoration (judging by the presence of building materials and stairs), and there is a belief that it will soon again shine with its domes and crosses.
