This church / log cabin / was built by the monk Lazar in XIV. century. The origin of the monks Lazar is from Serbia and he seems to have reached Karelia via the Monasteries of Mount Athos and Greece. The significance of the church is its age and evidence of the cooperation of the influence of the monks of Mount Athos on Russian Orthodoxy.

Now (August 2018) the main Church is being restored, there are no three upper domes. The island is big, for 4 hours not even everywhere had time to walk. Took an audio guide - very convenient.

The oldest chapel in Kizhi dates back to the 14th century. The architectural feature of the chapel is the groove selected in the upper part of the log, the device of the jambs - the pairing of the upper and side is different from the outside and from the inside. The poles of the formwork are cut into each log of the pediment. The iconostasis consists of local and deesis ranks. In 1877, the monument was studied by L.V. Dahlem. In 1886, a case was placed around the monument for preservation, while a beggar was dismantled. In 1960 she was transferred to the museum.
