On May 30, 2007, the solemn opening of the memorial complex-obelisk for the graduates of Lyceum No. 40 in Zlatoust, who died in the performance of military duty, was held. There were a lot of guests: students and teachers, graduates, factory workers, representatives of the military commissariat, OMON, the city administration, the parents of the deceased children, relatives, friends, factory workers. Preparations for the opening of the memorial complex-obelisk took place throughout the school year. Funds collected almost by ruble: graduates of the lyceum of the 40-60's brought someone as much as possible - 20-100 rubles, fellow students of dead children and those who were simply familiar with them, parents, relatives, former teachers and masters of industrial training, just not indifferent residents of the city, all employees and students of the Lyceum - all contributed funds for manufacturing. Most of the money was invested by Zlatmash employees, some of whom knew the deceased guys personally (the guys worked at the end of the Lyceum at the plant, they had practical training). Obelisk is an integral part of the lyceum's traditions; in the days of the children's death, the Memory Watch takes place - the honor guard , which bear the best students, the eternal fire is lit, on the obelisk the photograph of the deceased. Often these days, relatives and friends come to the obelisk, laying flowers.
