"The exhibition represents the cross as the main symbol of the Russian world, made by means of objects that entered the museum from its inception in 1883 - crosses of all possible forms, techniques, materials, types and purposes. As signs of personal piety, exhibits of the 16th - early 20th centuries are represented: crosses and pilgrimage relics, carved Old Believers' boards. As an attribute of the church are shown the crosses of the temple, the mortgages, the altars, and also the temple utensils (icons, chalices, censers, chalice covers), icons with images of the cross. The tradition of using the cross as a state award is demonstrated by the example of portraits of churchmen and statesmen in ceremonial robes, with images of orders. A separate section of the exhibition shows the use of the image of the cross in folk everyday life. The image of the cross marks objects utilitarian: cradles, spinning wheels, dishes, gingerbread boards, and pasochnitsy - forms for making paschs.Expositions are deployed on the second floor of the State Choir (the Red Chamber) ....
