A place for real music lovers. If you want to find something chamber in the style of jazz and at the same time a minimum of pathos, then the jazz center is the same. Not for nothing that a cool festival of Russian jazz - jazz over the Volga is held in Yaroslavl. So if you want Russian jazz, then you are here.

This is a great place to enjoy some amazing jazz music. A bit of history. The first jazz club in Yaroslavl was founded in 1967. The appearance of the first ensembles performing jazz music in the city can also be attributed to this time. The next stage in the development and formation of a jazz club in our city can be determined by the appearance of the subscription "Jazz and Song on the Modern Stage" (from 12 concerts of the best ensembles of the country) at the Gigant club in 1971. This was the first subscription in the USSR associated with jazz. The Yaroslavl Jazz Club was founded for the second time on March 13, 1974 after the concert of the Traditional Jazz Studio of Vladimir Sizov in the YarsU hall. A year later, the idea arose to hold not just a concert of one ensemble, but several at once. Thus, the `` big jazz concerts '' appeared. Further, these concerts turned from one-day to two-day. That is, it was quite natural to prepare the ground for future festivals. And then came 1979 - the year of the first five years of the jazz club. I wanted to hold something more significant - "Days of Jazz", which was attended by 20 groups and even from other republics. In 1981 it was decided to hold the first festival. This is how Jazz over the Volga appeared. 36 orchestras and ensembles from 12 republics have already arrived at this festival. In the summer of the same year, a gramophone disc was released at the Melodiya firm. In March 1989, an international festival was already held! It was an achievement then. The next festival "Jazz over the Volga" will be held in March 2009. Of course, at present, the main role in organizing and conducting festivals is played by the first (and so far the only) Jazz Center in Russia, opened in Yaroslavl almost nine years ago, with a cozy concert hall for 80 people, a library and a music library, rehearsal classes, and a recording studio. the center has a tradition of holding live jazz concerts twice a week. Added weekly programs "Friday night ...". Participants of the concerts (there were more than 550 of them) were musicians with a highly professional performing level, not only from Yaroslavl and Russia, but also from many foreign countries. Thus, the main directions of the center's activities were determined, similar to the philharmonic work.
