The idea of ​​building a chapel was born back in the 90s, when they came across a firing place on Sovetskaya Street. In 1990, builders discovered a terrible find: at one time, 68 human skulls with the same opening in the back of the head were raised from the ground. A year later, the Stone of Sorrow appeared on the site of mass executions. Then they started talking about the chapel, but things did not go beyond the installation of the Stone of Sorrow. However, in 2010 it was decided to build a memorial chapel. The chapel itself in honor of the innocent victims was built with almost no design. There was only a 1909 sketch of the Tomsk architect of the Barnaul chapel-icon of the Mother of God. It’s worthy of being "safely" destroyed in Soviet times. Not only the chapel will be located on the allocated site - it is also planned to move the Stone of Sorrow here.
