The cathedral was consecrated in 1904 as the main temple of the historical district - Forstadt. Closed in 1926. Later the bell tower and the completion of the dome of the temple were demolished. Then the cathedral was built into the buildings of the Electric Furnace factory and it housed the forge and press shop. The cathedral is still used as a workshop. The requests of believers for the return of the church church did not succeed. The cathedral miraculously preserved murals.

Alexander Nevsky Cathedral was built in Biysk in 1902. It was erected in the tradition of cult architecture. Inside the building, to this day, the unique wall paintings of the altar have been partially preserved with the image of Jesus Christ, the Most Holy Theotokos, the holy noble Prince Alexander Nevsky, St. Alexy, Metropolitan of Moscow, St. Nicholas the Wonderworker. In October 1905, the temple was consecrated by His Eminence Innokenty, Bishop of Biysk. The temple was designed for two thousand people. At the time of its construction, it was one of the largest Orthodox structures in Altai and until 1918 was the Cathedral of Biysk. Even after the establishment of Soviet power, the doors of the temple were open until 1939. In 1939, the cathedral was closed and partially destroyed - four chapters and a bell tower were demolished. At the beginning of the Great Patriotic War, the "Prompech" plant was evacuated here from Moscow. In December 1941, production was located within the walls of the temple. In the altar part and under the dome there was a press-forging shop, and in the vestibule there were warehouses. Factory premises remained here in peacetime. Industrial and administrative annexes began to be molded to the walls of the strong church building, not fitting into its ensemble.
