April 24 - Day of Remembrance of the Victims of the Armenian Genocide. In 1915, on this day, the Turkish government decided to deport the Armenian intelligentsia from Istanbul. However, most of its representatives were killed. In total, in 1915-1918, about 1.5 million Armenians were killed. 10 thousand of this nationality and seven thousand more Isids (immigrants from Armenia) who came here in the early 90s live in the Novosibirsk region today. As the deputy chairman of the public organization "Shams" Norik Aloyan said, Novosibirsk has become a second home for them. Armenians today work in many areas - in construction, agriculture, commerce. Representatives of the Communist Party faction also laid flowers. Aram Suvaryan, deputy of the regional council, noted: “This is the Day of Mourning not only for the Armenian people. At one time, Hitler, having decided on the genocide of Jews and Slavs, said that no one remembers the Turkish genocide of Armenians. So it's dangerous to have a short historical memory. "

The memorial khachkar ("cross-stone") was installed in 2000 at the expense of the Armenian community and is made of pink tuff. Author: A. Grigoryan. Recommend.
