Al-Ula is famous for its history and its compact old houses, some of which date back more than 2000 years. But Al-Ula is more than just a historical landmark, it is a vibrant city, inhabited by about 5,000 only, and they live in the authentic Saudi way. This is what makes Al-Ula so popular with tourists looking for a traditional Saudi town. This town rich in water resources is distinguished by its fertile soil, and in the middle of the desert as a real oasis, and it was a main stop on the incense road that used to connect Saudi Arabia to Egypt and India to facilitate the trade of spices, silk and others. Al-Ula Heritage Village - In this historic town, the ruins of hundreds of mud houses that were inhabited by more than 60,000 people in the distant past. The houses are still standing today, and visitors can contemplate the way this community lived hundreds of years ago by strolling its streets and visiting the “Tantura”, a sundial in the form of an obelisk, used by the Arabs to determine the seasons and times.
