old fort well maintained.

good
The valley of Asfan is about fifty kilometers northwest of the city of Mecca and Hudaybiyah is about thirty kilometers north. In the time of the Prophet, it was a pier between Mecca and Mecca. According to a source, it was named Asfan due to the severity and destruction of the floods.
The castle was originally protected by nearby caravans. It was built of stones that were brought from rocky areas. It was discovered that the stones in the castle differed from the square stones on which the square was built, with four towers on the corners and two additional beams on each wall.
The fortress overlooks the road leading to Madinah, which in the main provided protection for the nearby caravan routes passing through the area and the convoys of pilgrims heading from Jeddah to Medina through the Prophet's migration. The castle was built of rock stones brought from mountainous areas near its location, where most of the region is characterized by good quality basalt rocks that come over the hills of high density which are adjacent to the eastern freeway located in the coastal plain, which separates the eastern and western valleys and the valleys of Hamran.
Some of the walls and towers in the castle are still relatively good, but it seems that part of the hill on which the castle was built was removed by construction work on the adjacent road. The fortress is now on the hillside bus. Which was enjoyed by the Ottoman period, the castle stood for centuries, but when the highway was built fast part of it was cut from two sides east and west, which led to the fall of parts of the columns of the castle and the entrance of the rooms, but in the year 2015, the municipality of Asfan historical castle and rebuilt the Ma Fell from the columns and restored as established Drawer for the rise of her, but the castle rooms at the bottom and get off the entrance to her wrecked and we hope to have the attention of the officials discovered and returned as they were. The relationship between the fortress and the fortress mentioned by Ibn Jubayr in his sixth century AH before the Ottoman Caliphate is not known and was repeated in the eighth century AH Ibn Battuta, perhaps built on its ruins or located elsewhere.
