The Prophet's Mosque, the Haram al-Nabawi, or the Prophet's Mosque is one of the largest mosques in the world and the second holiest site in Islam (after the Grand Mosque in Makkah al-Mukarramah), and it is the mosque that the Prophet Muhammad built in Madinah after his emigration in the year 1 AH corresponding to 622 next to his house after building the Quba Mosque. The mosque went through several expansions throughout history, passing through the era of the Rightly Guided Caliphs, the Umayyad state, the Abbasid and the Ottoman Empire, and finally during the era of the Saudi state, where its largest expansion took place in 1994. The Prophet's Mosque is the first place in the Arabian Peninsula where lighting is accomplished by using electric lights in 1327 AH corresponding to 1909. [1]

After the expansion made by Omar bin Abdul Aziz in the year 91 AH, the room of Aisha (now known as the “noble Prophet's room”, which is located in the southeast corner of the mosque) was entered into it, and the Prophet Muhammad, Abu Bakr and Omar bin Al-Khattab were buried in it, and the green dome was built on it. It is one of the most prominent landmarks of the Prophet's Mosque. The mosque played a major role in political and social life, serving as a social center, court, and religious school. The mosque is located in the center of Medina, surrounded by many hotels and old souks nearby. Many people who perform Hajj or Umrah visit him, and visit the grave of the Prophet Muhammad, peace be upon him.
The virtues of the Prophet's Mosque modified
Many hadiths of the Prophet were narrated by Muslims explaining the merits of the Prophet’s Mosque, and its position with them, including:
It is the mosque mentioned in the verse: “The mosque is a mosque that was founded on piety, from the first day on which it is worthy to rise in it, men who like to purify themselves, and that they purify many of them.” 3 : «I entered upon the Messenger of God, may God bless him and grant him peace, in the house of some of his women and said: O Messenger of God, which are the two mosques that were founded on piety? He said: He took a handful of gravel and hit the ground with it. Then he said: This is your mosque (he means the Madinah mosque). ”[5]
It is one of the three mosques that it is not permissible to travel to a mosque except to it. On the authority of Abu Sa`id al-Khudri, on the authority of the Prophet Muhammad, he said: “Only three mosques are the Haram Mosque, the Al-Aqsa Mosque, and this mosque.
A prayer in it is equivalent to 1000 prayers in other mosques. On the authority of Abu Hurairah, according to the Prophet Muhammad, he said: “One thousand prayers in my mosque are better than a thousand prayers in other mosques, except in the Sacred Mosque.” [7]
There is a part in it called “The Blessed Rawda,” in which the Prophet Muhammad says: “What is between my house and my pulpit is a garden of paradise, and my pulpit is on my basin.” [8]
It is the best place for people to go to. The Prophet Muhammad said: “The best place for those who are ridden is my mosque and the old house.” [9]
He who came to him with the aim of learning is like a mujahid for the sake of God. The Prophet Muhammad said: “Whoever came to my mosque did not come to him except for a good that he could learn or teach, he is like the mujahideen for the sake of God, and whoever comes otherwise is like a man looking at the belongings of others.” [10]
That whoever prays for 40 days will have a deliverance from Hellfire. It was narrated on the authority of Anas bin Malik that the Prophet Muhammad said: “Whoever prays forty prayers in my mosque will not miss a prayer, an innocence from fire and innocence from torment and innocence from hypocrisy will be written for him.” [11] But it is considered a weak hadith. [12]
