La Sombra Hostel

Simple place in the heart of El Tunco. You can walk to everything. The room was clean. The ac was cold and had good Wi-Fi connection. They can even arrange for airport transfers. I've stayed twice and I will stay again.

This is the worst hostel I've ever seen! We couldn't even stay for one night because it was so dirty, the room had no ventilation, no working fan, the staff were not friendly. When I tried to tell them we were not staying the man just ignored me and played on his phone. So we got no refund either. There was also no wifi! There are so many nicer places nearby and cheaper - I wouldn't recommend this to anyone ever. Sleeping on the pebble beach would be nicer.

Great hostel, good prices. The staff is fairly attentive to things, everything was very clean. They are strict about noise in the evening, and doing anything out of the ordinary. I.e. Volleyball in the pool wasn't allowed. Enjoyed my 6 night stay though, despite that.

I can't believe this place has such a good rating. It's the dirtiest, least maintained hostel I've been to in Central America. Staff are friendly, but never around. Beds are old and gross, 1 shower for dormitory style rooms (that doesn't drain), and two toilets. Only good thing is that it's cheap, but go ahead and pay a few extra bucks to stay somewhere nicer.

Great place really quiet and safe 2 mins from beach and bars. Great for budget traveling. Kitchen works well.
