This town was very pretty, and very welcoming. We visited the salto malacatiupan, it was beyond beautiful, problably the best kept secret in central america. We contact the local police department and for $20 they send us a guide and a security officer. We had no issues, however the officer did informed us that gang members were near and to be alert. Please dont feel intimidated or scared to come here, if you use comom sense and dont call attention to your self El salvador is a hiden gem.
