National Theater of San Miguel

Beautiful national jewel in the city of San Miguel, a place where artists have perfomed or exhibited their work since 1909 despite the wars and lack of maintenance from the past governments. Considered cultural patrimony of the country it's one of the main national theatres in El Salvador. A must in your list of atractions to visit in San Miguel.

I enjoyed visiting the Theater. When we visited, a movie was being shown in the reception area. The building have gone through challenging times. Beautiful architecture created by a local. I am looking forward to the day the theater's renovations are concluded. Our guide was wonderful!

An architectural jewel, cultural heritage of El Salvador, neglected by an inoperative "Ministry of culture" that only charges onerous salaries, it is incredible how in other countries theaters promote and are in such demand for all kinds of events and artistic presentations while here with seats in ruins, without even an efficient air conditioning system for the interior and the total abandonment of its facilities except for a few school micro events or to present strange films or photographic sessions that the inculturalized people of Migueleno do not realize. Hopefully one day El Salvador and San Miguel can enjoy a true and real growth and development of their Historic Center and culture.
