Lotfi ABDALLAH (09/14/2018)
The Imam al-Mazri was born in the year 453 AH, corresponding to the year 1061 AD, and according to some sources, he states that he lived in the city of Mahdia and was not from its birth. He died there in the year 536 AH, corresponding to 1141 AD and was buried in Monastir during the period of the last Sanhaji princes, Hassan bin Ali bin Yahya bin Tamim bin al-Muizz. The full name of Imam al-Mazri is Abdullah bin Muhammad bin Omar bin Muhammad al-Tamimi al-Mazri in relation to Mazar, a coastal city in the south of the island of Sicily. The Imam al-Mazri was a fundamentalist jurist who took great care of Sahih Muslim so that he was considered one of his first interpreters. His book was called “The Teacher Fi Explaining the Book of Muslim” because his interest was largely focused on explaining the hadiths contained in the Sahih of Imam Muslim and commenting on them linguistically, jurisprudently and verbally, thus demonstrating the depth of his culture and the strength of his language.
