It’s a very good museum. Small yet rich. It takes us through the history of Tunisia starting from Carthage. People who work there are very friendly and knowledgeable. Excellent experience!

I really enjoyed the place. If you're interested in the history of money, it is the place to visit

A remarkable museum which traces the history of Tunisian currency over 25 centuries. Located at Avenue Mohamed V near the central bank, it has two large exhibition halls, a commemorative coin store, a library reserved for students and a virtual reality room where, using a vr mask, you can admire Carthage in the Punic era. The collection of some 2,000 pieces is displayed in 43 display cases, each equipped with a mobile magnifying glass to facilitate the deciphering of each piece. Their arrangement follows a chronological order, from the Punic period to the present day. Much of the collection was donated by historian Hassan Hosni Abdelwaheb to the Central Bank of Tunisia in the 1960s, when Hédi Nouira was governor of the bank. Just as the collections represent the Carthaginian, Numidian, Roman, Vandal, Byzantine, Arab-Muslim, colonial and contemporary era. In short, a museum bringing together true joys of Tunisian heritage that would interest numismatists and culture enthusiasts.
