They did just have renos and I stayed before they did them. The older rooms weren't that great, but seemed ok. At the time, they only had 1 key, so it was really annoying as well to share with whoever else that you're staying with if you weren't together. The open bar is a bit of a joke. One of the bartenders tried to ask me what room I was staying in by giving me a whole bottle of wine as well.

Horror and nightmare. Old rooms, old linens, stuffiness everywhere, air conditioning can not cope or they are not. No wifi. The dishes in the dining room are dirty, the line for dishes and food. Mosquitoes and flies. There is dirt, hair and other biological residues in the pool. There is nothing to see around the hotel, two abandoned broken hotels. The beach is cleaned, but there are a lot of jellyfish in the water (September were). Biting hurts every day. Nothing good:(

No organization, pitiful service, employees don't give a damn about customers, the rooms are old and theaters, the food is industrial, no fresh produce! The air conditioning did not work during my stay. In the middle of summer it's still serious! I was changed rooms 3 times and finally I got a suite which is far from passable for a 3 star suite!
