The museum contains artifacts from the city of Gafsa, its environs, and the rest of the state of Gafsa, which are mainly traced back to the Cypriot civilization that existed 5 thousand years BC. In the museum there are various tools made of flint, carved stones or carved bones, as well as displaying human and animal representations and physical manifestations of a kind of spiritual life. The second wing of the museum is dedicated to collections dating back to the Roman period. These collections mainly include customary artifacts, jewelery, coins, sculptures, and mosaic items.
