Gabes is a large city of oases with a glorious past. It lies at the crossroads of the most important roads linking the northern part of the Tunisian country to the depths of the desert world. And it is the gate that opens inside the barbarian areas fortified in the rugged Matmata Mountains. All these features make it a meeting point for many human resources and a variety, and they are reflected in the museum in a clear manner on the various ethnic characteristics. The Gabes Museum was built in a historical landmark, it is a school built in the El Mouradi era that dates back to the late seventeenth century. It is a complex that contains a religious education pavilion and a mosque And housing for students, and all are characterized by the consistency of architecture, simple and elegant at the same time. And this landmark is located near another historical landmark, the corner of Sidi Abu Lababa Al-Ansari, one of the righteous saints of the city, and he came from the Arabian Peninsula with the first delegations of the Muslim conquerors. As for the museum's content, it focuses on the life of the oases through four main interests: household industries, marriage, nutrition, and agriculture. Also in the museum are some artifacts: crowns, stone carvings, funerary incinerators, etc.
