constructed in the 12th century by the ruler of the Artukid Turks, Qutb ad-din Ilghazi. It has a ribbed dome and a minaret that soars above the city. There were originally two minarets, but one collapsed many centuries ago.
Gorgeous with great history
Dunaysır (Koçhisar) Ulucami Kızıltepe - Mardin
The construction was started by Artuklu Sultan Yavlak Aslan (1184-1200) and completed by his brother Artuk Aslan (1200-1239). It was cut with a 9.75 in diameter tromped dome along the three naves parallel to the Qibla wall and two naves in front of the altar. The altar of the mosque and its walls are decorated with elegant engraving inscriptions.
While one of the best historical artifacts in Kiziltepe has gone to Kiziltepe, add this place to your visit list since you do not have many alternatives. Kızıltepe used to be a small stop on the caravan caravan road.
