Now a tomb for Kirgiz soldiers who helped capture the city from the Byzantines. Originally this was the Hagios Tryphonos Church, which originally dates from the 11th century. Despite no mention of this, the architecture and presence of Byzantine columns gives this away.

Very nice monument for Kirgiz soldiers died supporting the turkish army. It is worth seeing when you are in Iznik.

Iznik should take its place among the places to visit on a weekend. Because Iznik is a museum city, almost an open-air museum when you look at it completely. Iznik, which produces world-renowned works of tiles and ceramics, is still the first city that comes to mind when it comes to tile even today. A cultural blend that stands out among the olive trees and has survived until today. In ancient times, the name of Iznik was Nikeia. The word Nikeia was also the name of someone who lived here at that time. The name Iznik also comes from here. In Greek, the word “is”, which means inside the city wall, was brought to his head and the word “Isnikea” started to be known as Iznik in time. Nikeia Ancient City became the capital of the Seljuk State for a short period when it was conquered by the Seljuks in the 11th century. After the First Crusades, Nikeia was conquered by the Byzantines and the Seljuks had to move to Konya. Nikea was besieged by the Ottoman Empire in the 14th century and Iznik was declared the capital as a center of art, trade and culture. The first mosques, the first madrasahs, the first almshouse, the first buildings that made the Ottoman Empire Ottoman were built here in Iznik. Unfortunately, there is not much information about the Kyrgyz Tomb, which is the starting point of the znik tour. In the 11th century, the Kyrgyz contributed to the establishment of the center of the Anatolian Seljuk State and conquered the city of Iznik. Orhan Gazi built this tomb in the 14th century, when he lived, to show that he was not indifferent to this situation. This historical building, 230 meters away from Yenişehir Gate, is impossible to miss, as it is located next to the asphalt road. There are several sarcophagi inside the tomb. Among the mausoleums in Bursa, this is one of the most striking mausoleums in terms of architecture.

You need to know the date. This tomb is a proof of how the Ottoman Empire was founded.

Easy access by car at the entrance of the city. It must be seen.
