The mosque is in the very center of Yenişehir.Beautiful, well-kept and clean. But we visited this mosque because of its historical features. According to a rumor declared the independence of the Ottoman principality this mosque was read. Unfortunately we could not feel it in the mosque or in Yenişehir. Even though there is not much of an original, it is still a historical mosque. The interesting information I learned here is now a huge road between them, but the mosque and the tomb of Şehzade Süleyman were once parts of the same complex.

According to the legend, it is a valuable point in terms of being the mosque where the Ottoman independence sermon was read. However, due to the interest shown enough left to itself. Which has the distinction of being the first mosque of the Ottomans did.

Kumluk Mosque (Süleymanpaşa) is the place where the Ottoman Empire's Sermon was read and declared as the State. The place where the mosque was called "Kayseriye" neighborhood. So was the record. Later, it was called Kumluk Neighborhood. Then the mosque took the name Kumluk. Today, this district is known as "Kurtuluş Quarter". Like other mosques, the mosque was destroyed in various periods, and in some periods it was in danger of collapse. The most important repair was the time of Grand Vizier Kuyucu Murat Pasha (1606-1607). The mosque was built by Osman Gazi. Osman Gazi had his sermon read here. Today, at the entrance of the mosque, it was written that the first sermon was taught in this mosque in 697 AD
