Deyr Yakup (Yakup Monastery), 10 km from the center. away, located on the mountains to the south. Among the people, it is believed that the Prophet Abraham, King Nemrut, who the Prophet struggled with, used this place as an area of ​​improvement. For the structure in this region, the expressions "Nemrut's Throne" or "Cin Değirmeni" are used among the public. There is a monumental tomb in the northwest of the monastery. There is a two-line inscription under the east-facing window on this tomb monument. The first line of this inscription is written in Greek (Ancient Greek), the second line in Pamyra Syriac. The following sentence is written in both inscriptions: "Amaşşemeş, wife of Şardu Bar Ma'nu)" It is understood from these inscriptions that this building was built for the mentioned person. Inscription, probably II. end of the century or III. It belongs to the beginning of the century. It is estimated that the monastery was built on these dates.

Great place, great date. Unfortunately, while I was writing these, my friends wrote historical information and I should mention this without strangling often. It stands as a sign of Urfa's abandonment and is an unprotected place; just like the Germuş Church. I see them as monuments that show the ignorance of opinion leaders empowered in Urfa.

It is a serious hiking and climbing site. You must have water and food with you. The ruins of this monastery, which is in a position to dominate the whole of Urfa, bear the traces of a magnificent history.
